The village

The Cross Keys sits in the heart of Upwood, a charming village in the Huntingdonshire countryside, just a short distance from Ramsey and Huntingdon. With its traditional village character, historic buildings and peaceful rural surroundings, Upwood has a strong sense of community and a history stretching back centuries.
The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it a lovely place to explore on foot before stopping at The Cross Keys for something to eat or a well-earned drink. Nearby Upwood Meadows National Nature Reserve is particularly special, with ancient grazing meadows, wildflowers, mature hedgerows and wildlife. The reserve is recognised for its exceptional plant diversity and retains traces of medieval ridge-and-furrow farming.
Bluebell Wood
Spring brings one of the area's most beautiful sights, with nearby woodland coming alive with carpets of bluebells. Lady's Wood, an ancient woodland near Upwood, is particularly spectacular during April and May, when its woodland floor becomes filled with bluebells alongside wildflowers such as lesser celandine, greater stitchwort and dog's mercury. The wood is also home to a variety of birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
